Popular Bishonen Voice Actors Cover "Senbonzakura"

posted on by Eric Stimson
Song released on Actors3 CD

A group of handsome voice actors with large female fan followings has released its own cover of the hit Hatsune Miku song "Senbonzakura."

The voice actors — Naozumi Takahashi, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Takuya Satou, Shōta Aoi and Toshiki Masuda — are part of a musical drama CD series called Actors in which they play students and sing Vocaloid songs. "Senbonzakura" is included on Actor3, which was released on March 18. The above video also includes other actors who only sing on the CD's limited edition: Yūki Ono, Ryōta Takeuchi, Kenji Nojima, Takuya Eguchi and Subaru Kimura, in that order (their parts begin at 1:34).

"Senbonzakura" (literally "Thousand Cherries," figuratively referring to a good place for cherry blossom viewing) is a Hatsune Miku song written and composed by the doujin group Kurousa-P. Its lyrics satirize the rapid modernization of Japan in the Taishou Era, and its music video is heavily influenced by the styles of that period. Its popularity is such that it received 4.3 million views in less than a year. It is a frequent karaoke choice and has been covered by classical violinist Lindsey Sterling, used in a Toyota commercial and inspired a novel.
