Goku Voice Actress Masako Nozawa Hit the Red Carpet for Hollywood Film Screening

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Funimation hosted the North American premiere of the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' film in Los Angeles last weekend. The red carpet event also had the very special guests, Goku's Japanese voice actress Masako Nozawa and his English dub voice actor Sean Schemmel.

Nozawa stopped on the red carpet to sign lucky fans' memorabilia and pose for photos with Goku. The trip marked Nozawa's first ever appearance in Hollywood.

The screening was held at the Egyptian Theatre with 500 attendees, some in cosplay as their favorite characters. Director Tadayoshi Yamamuro was also at the event and held a stage greeting after the film was shown.

Funimation plans to open the film to a wider theater release, with an English dub, this summer.

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' will premiere in both 2D and 3D in theaters across Japan on April 18, although advance screenings will be held before then. The film will also be the first Japanese film to open in 3D IMAX Digital Theaters.

First moviegoers in Japan will receive a special "Toriyama Akira Kakioroshi Kyakuhon Kanzen Shūroku JC Sai 'Kami' Kan Dragon Ball Maki 'F'" (JC Most "Godly" Edition Dragon Ball Volume "F" With Complete Script Written by Akira Toriyama) that will contain Akira Toriyama's original comments on the setting for the film, the behind-the-scenes story behind the script, exposition text, design materials, and other materials.

Filmgoers will also receive one Goku or Vegeta card for the Dragon Ball Heroes arcade card game. The third theater bonus will be the "Menkyo Kaiden! 5 Dai Dragon Ball Game Chō Senshi Ninteishō!" (Secrets Revealed! 5 Big Dragon Ball Games Super Warrior Certificate!) that includes download codes to unlock special features in five different Dragon Ball games. The first 1.5 million people who see the film in theaters will receive the bonus items.
