Migi Meatballs Stare Back at You as You Eat

Creepy dish to be served up at Tokyo meat festival

Taking cues from the parasitic Migi from the recent anime Parasyte -the maxim- anime series, these one-eyed meatballs are being served up in Tokyo later in the month. Not to worry, though, they're not alien parasites; they're 100% Japanese beef. Cooked in a rich demi-glace, they actually look pretty yummy. Takashi Yamazaki, director of the Parasyte live-action movie, certainly thought so. "Although I was stunned to see them, I was surprised to find they were unexpectedly tasty," he said. "Anyone who likes Migi so much they want to eat him should definitely try this. Maybe you'll gain new powers if you mingle with parasites!"

The "Migitballs" will be served at the Food Nations ~Niku Fes Tokyo Spring 2015~, a festival celebrating the meat of Japan's various regions as well as foreign countries. The meat in the meatballs, for instance, comes from the black cattle of Miyazaki Prefecture in Kyushu. The festival will be held from April 24 to 29 in Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo and then from May 1 to 6 in Le Soleil in Yokosuka and from May 1 to 10 at Aeon Mall Makuhari New City in Chiba. A plate of Migitballs will cost 1,400 yen ($12). The second part of the Parasyte movie premieres on April 25.
