Depressed Office Lady Drawings Strike Chord on Twitter

A series of drawings posted on the Twitter account @black9arrows depicting the life of a single, depressed, and often bored office lady has struck a chord in Japan.

"I drew a picture of a single OL for whom everything sucks."

"I drew a picture of a single OL playing with Fun Sushi Maker [a sushi toy kit] on a Sunday afternoon."

"I drew a picture of a single OL trying to tweet about something before going to bed." (She's tweeting about making sushi.)

"I drew a picture of a single OL who bought Häagen-Dazs in the convenience store on the way home from work."

"I drew a picture of a single OL wishing everything was a lie."

"I drew a picture of a single OL resisting Monday by drinking juice in a weird position."

"I drew a picture of a single OL putting together Zoids on a Saturday."

"I drew a picture of a single OL gazing at dust drifting in the sunlight."

"I drew a picture of a single OL waking up from a dream." (In a recent tweet, @black9arrows clarifies that the dream wasn't a nightmare, "it was a blissful dream of her eating doughnuts with Raiden. That dream was too happy; it's reality that's the nightmare.")

@akogareno_heya tweeted this picture of an ideal room for the forlorn office lady, but it did not seem to improve her mood.

Reactions to these comics have ranged from "she is too cute" and "I want to hug her with all my strength" to "They drew this because it's a young woman, but if it was a man it wouldn't trend." @black9arrows has responded thus:
