Rie Murakawa Tries Her Very Best to Dance to Etotama's Opening Theme

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Voice actress Rie Murakawa took the stage to dance along to Etotama's opening theme "Retry Rendezvous." Murakawa recorded the opening theme and also stars in the series as Nyaatan. The character is based on the Cat from the Chinese Zodiac story and Murakawa's dance moves (and ear headband) make reference to this in the video.

Etotama's story revolves around Eto-shin (Zodiac Gods). "Eto-shin" are the 12 divine messengers chosen from "Eto-musume," or zodiac girls representing all kinds of animals. From ancient times, these 12 divine messengers have protected the land of the rising sun. They are powerful beings who have survived through "ETM 12," a divine tournament held every sixty years, and admired by all Eto-musumes.

The original legend tells that the Jade Emperor called a feast for the animals to attend, but the Rat lied to the Cat and he shows up a day late and misses the opportunity to attend the banquet. Thus, the animosity between rats and cats is born and retold through works like Fruits Basket and Etotama.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan and Pony Canyon USA is promoting the series in the U.S.
