Danmachi Dōjinshi Event Has Disappointing Turn Out

posted on by Eric Stimson
Is DanMachi's popularity hanging by a string?

On June 14, a dōjinshi event dedicated exclusively to the popular light novel and anime series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? ("DanMachi" for short), Dungeon Kumikyoku, will be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center in Hamamatsu Town. Dungeon Kumikyoku will have room for a hundred dōjin circles and a large cosplay space.

... Unfortunately, only three circles have signed up: Sound_and_Vision, Kinugoshi Craft, and Desktheory. It's prompting speculation among Japanese fans over whether DanMachi's shine is wearing off and whether its popularity was overly propped up by a certain string, although the light novel series is selling strong. The lack of participation is also surprising given how much Hestia dōjinshi was available at the Comic1 event at Tokyo Big Sight on May 2.

At least the circles that do attend will have disproportionate attention.
