Bugs Invade Pokemon Film Popcorn, It's Super-Effective

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

Yeah, Misty wouldn't approve of this either.

At the July 18 Japanese premiere of Pokémon the Movie XY: Ring no Chōmajin Hoopa, known as Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages in the U.S., TOHO announced that they would no longer sell the promotional Pokémon Popcorn Box due to a bug infestation in the products. The announcement came during the Pikachu short before the movie began.

According to documented evidence, bug-infested boxes were detected during inspection of July shipments, though no such problems were found in earlier shipments. Insects were found to be 1-2mm long. Boxes currently stocked in theaters are being recalled for further inspection.

There are currently plans to re-sell the products, bugs not included. The company has since apologized "for the major inconvenience this has caused."
