Moyashimon Gets Limited Edition Sake in August

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The bacteria of Masayuki Ishikawa's Moyashimon manga and anime series found their perfect collaboration with Shunnōten brewery in Yamanashi. The ancient sake brewery was founded in 1790 under the name Yorozuya, but later changed it to Shunnōten in the 1930s.

Shunnōten will release 1,200 sake bottles featuring Aspergillus oryzae (the bacteria used to make sake) drawn by Ishikawa on the label. The sake was made using the new sake yeast strain, Kyokai no. 1901. Each bottle costs 1,500 yen (US$12) for 500ml (16oz). It debuted on Marine Day on Monday. Orders are expected to arrive next month.

Comic Natalie's online goods store released an artfully etched sake set including a glass and measuring cup (masu) last year.
