Windows 10 Mascot Officially Introduced as 'Tōko'

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Microsoft's latest OS is joining the company's already large line-up of macot characters. Introducing Tōko Madobe, named by fans through an official poll. She joins Windows other OS mascots: Nanami Madobe (Windows 7), Claudia Madobe (Windows Azure) Yū and Ai Madobe (Windows 8), Inori Aizawa (Internet Explorer), and Hikaru Aizawa (Microsoft Silverlight).

The Internet Explorer mascot confirmed Tōko's name on its official Facebook page. Her name is a homonym for one of the readings for "ten" in Japanese, "too/とお".

According to her profile, Tōko is a 17-year-old who traveled from 100 years in the future to 2015 because the year marked a critical turning point in technological world history. She hopes to improve technological literacy using her genius-level tech skills and cheering on newbies. She can be a bit airheaded at times, so the manager (a fictional character voiced by Daisuke Namikawa) worries about her. She's also a fan of online games.

Microsoft Taiwan has been using the cute Hikaru Aizawa as their mascot for Microsoft Silverlight since 2010 and Microsoft Singapore introduced Inori Aizawa in 2013. Nanami Madobe (voiced by Nana Mizuki) debuted in 2009 and was followed by Yū (Asuka Nishi) and Ai (Nao Tamura), and Claudia (Eri Kitamura).
