Baccarat Celebrates Doraemon's Birthday with US$400 Statue

French crystal company Baccarat is well known for its high-end glassware, whether its bank-breaking One Piece glasses or US$800 ice buckets.

The company has decided to make something special for Doraemon's birthday this month by recreating the cat out of clear crystal for 50,000 yen (US$414). Interested parties can contact the Baccarat shop in Marunouchi.

Despite the high price tag, Doraemon is still trailing behind Sanrio's Hello Kitty for jaw-dropping expensive merchandise. The high-end mascot has jewelry and statues in her likeness worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
