Tracking your enemy's power levels has never been easier.

From the hit Dragon Ball franchise comes the Dragon Ball Super Rising Scouter toy. Presented by Bandai, this toy functions with special Gashapon discs sold at many Japanese convenience store locations. T

he toy features three different modes: Rising Cross mode, Full Throttle mode and Battle mode. For Rising Cross Mode, by inserting a disc into the ear portion of the headset, one can hear lines from the character printed on the disc. Pressing a button on the Scouter enables different lights and sounds. A secret voice can be heard when using Full Throttle mode and the discs can be used in Battle mode for a special battle game. The headset comes in both red and purple colors and will be released on October 24 for 4,200 yen (about US$35). Each set also comes with three discs, depicting Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan forms along with the powerful Whis, introduced in the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Special sets of discs will also be released to access further voices on the Scouter. Each set will go for 500 yen each (US$4.16).

The discs are compatible with the Dragon Ball Discross arcade machines, which uses the discs to access playable characters and special attacks in-game.

Advanced Scouter toy technology is certainly no new thing for the Dragon Ball franchise. Previously, Comic Con events in San Diego and New York have presented exclusive Dragon Ball Z functional Scouters that could read special DBZ cards through the lens. In 2013, a Nintendo 3DS game allowed players to use the camera to scan other players' power levels much like an actual Scouter.
