posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Okinawa is gearing up for its One Piece-themed 5.5km marathon in March. Prior to Okinawans making the dash, over 11,500 people in Taiwan participated in original run in May. The event featured set pieces modeled after the Fishman Island arc and Punk Hazard.

Okinawa will hold the One Piece Run on March 30, 2016. Participants will race in a 5.5km marathon through various sets modeled after locations in the show. The event will offer interesting photo ops and goods such as shirts and wristbands.

Applications are currently being accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Those that apply sooner will have the opportunity to start the race first. At the finish line, a special after party will be held that will host special guest stars J-pop singer Hiroshi Kitadani and J-pop band D-51; both sang the first and sixth opening of the anime, respectively.
