Divine Gate Tops Amazon Japan Searches After 1st Episode Premiere

The anime adaptation of Marvelous' Divine Gate video game performed poorly in Nico Nico rankings and the Anime News Network Preview Guide. Charapedia put it starkly in the middle. Both Japanese websites were measuring interest prior to the show airing while the preview guide is based solely on the series' first episode.
Despite the lackluster reception, it looks like Divine Gate has found its fanbase among Japanese viewers. The anime's first home video release soared to the top of Amazon DVD popularity rankings the day after the first episode premiered. The DVD release ranked #1 while the Blu-ray release ranked #2. The anime's official Twitter account thanked fans for their support.
Both releases have since dropped out the Amazon Top 100.
