Japan's All-Female Takarazuka Musical Revue Coming to New York City

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Japan's long-standing, all-female musical theater troupe is coming to America to perform the Tony Award-winning musical Chicago this summer. The Takarazuka Revue will be in New York City to perform six shows at the David H. Koch Theater from July 20-24. Tickets will go on sale for US$50-110.

The group is an icon of Japanese culture, adapting everything from Rurouni Kenshin and Lupin the 3rd to the life of Abraham Lincoln.

The Chicago performance will include Japanese renditions of the songs with Bob Fosse's original choreography. The troupe debuted Chicago The Musical - Takarazuka 100th Anniversary: OG Version in 2014 with Saori Mine, Asato Shizuki, and Saki Asaji alternating as Billy Flynn.
