Naoki Urasawa Manga Documentary Series is Back for Second Season
posted on by Eric Stimson
NHK's documentary TV series Urasawa Naoki no Manben (which, roughly translated, means "Naoki Urasawa's Manga Exertions") is returning in March for a second season. The show is hosted by veteran manga artist Naoki Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys, Yawara!) and examines prominent manga artists in their workplaces. Urasawa also interviews them to learn more about their individual styles and work methods from the perspective of a fellow manga artist.
This season will feature longtime shojo manga artist Moto Hagio (Queen Margot, They Were Eleven, The Heart of Thomas), Kengo Hanazawa (I am a Hero, Boys on the Run), Daisuke Igarashi (Saru, Children of the Sea) and Usamaru Furuya (Tei'ichi no Kuni, Lychee Light Club, No Longer Human).
Previous artists featured on Urasawa Naoki no Manben include Kaiji Kawaguchi, Akiko Higashimura and Takao Saito. The second season premieres at 11 PM on March 3 and will air on Thursdays on NHK Educational TV. The first season will rerun on Mondays at 1:10 AM beginning on March 7.
