Princess Jellyfish's Manga Artist Supports Form-Fitting Bras

posted on by Eric Stimson

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

Tired of ill-fitting bras? Sick of wire cutting into your chest? So are the "girls" of Tokyo Tarareba Musume, a manga by Akiko Higashimura (Princess Jellyfish). In a new ad, they complain how hard it is to find a good bra and endorse Wacoal's Suhada bra.

The ad begins with Rinko telling her friends that she's thrown out another bra because it doesn't fit her body well. They empathize, and compare bras with guys, because they may look good but you won't be able to tell if they're compatible until you try them. They lament straps that slip off and bra shapes that make breasts stand out too much. Rinko even contemplates going without them. Then Key appears to save the day: he knows about Suhada bras, with their resin support framework that's flexible enough to fit different body types.

Tokyo Tarareba Musume fans will also be able to choose one of two different character-print note papers if they buy their Suhada bras at participating stores.

The manga follows three 30-something women as they desperately (and unsuccessfully) seek good boyfriends. Other anime and manga to collaborate with bras include Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gangsta and Sailor Moon — although these opted for a more direct approach.
