Godzilla Hitches Ride on Golden Ship in One Piece Film Gold Poster Crossover

The cover of the September issue of Entermix magazine will feature two unlikely partners: Godzilla and Luffy. The two characters both have movies hitting theaters soon — Godzilla in Godzilla Resurgence on July 29 and Luffy in One Piece Film Gold on July 23. Godzilla is shown towering over the Grantesoro, the golden ship where One Piece Film Gold is set.
Only part of the collaboration image is shown; the rest is exclusive to the magazine.
Mayumi Tanaka, Luffy's voice actress, commented that "Luffy is the strongest, so if he faced off against this huge Godzilla, I don't think he'd lose!" Shinji Higuchi, the co-director of Godzilla Resurgence, also chimed in. "Joining up with the King of the Pirates is like Wu and Yue in the same boat," he said, using a Chinese proverb about longtime enemies forced to work together.
The magazine, which hits stands on July 20, will contain features on both films. The One Piece feature will include an interview with Tanaka along with Shinji Shimizu, a producer at Toei Animation, and Hiroaki Miyamoto, the director. On the Godzilla side, the magazine will publish interviews with Higuchi, actors Hiroki Hasegawa and Satomi Ishihara, and character designer Takayuki Takeya.
The teaser music video for One Piece Film Gold's theme song, Glim Spanky's "Ikari o Kure Yo," recently streamed. Godzilla Resurgence has also been crossing over with Neon Genesis Evangelion for figures and art.
