JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Araki Draws Art for National Sports Festival

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Japanese prefecture of Iwate is holding the 71st National Sports Festival (Kokutai) from October 1-11 and the 16th National Disabled Persons Sports Festival on October 22-24 this year. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure creator Hirohiko Araki is helping promote the upcoming festivities with a promotional image dubbed "Iwate Ningen Sanka" (Iwate Person Anthem) that depicts a female athlete backed by traditional Iwate goods, like Wanko soba and Nanbu-tekki Ironware, and landmarks.

The image will be used at the entrances and exits of the event's venues as well as on posters and message board areas.

Araki's work has previously crossed over from pop culture to more formal collaborations. He previously worked with the earthquake-damaged Hiraizumi ruins and an exhibition for France's Louvre art museum.
