Sony Pictures Animation is Going Forward With Emoji Film

Sony Pictures Animation dropped nearly a million dollars last year to bring the likes of "thumbs up" and "poo" emojis to life on the big screen. Now the company is moving forward and has cast James Corden (Into the Woods), T. J. Miller (Big Hero 6, Deadpool), and Ilana Glazer (Broad City) into the film that is ultimately titled Emojimovie: Express Yourself.
The movie is set for release on August 11 with Anthony Leondis (Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters) directing off a script he co-wrote with Eric Siegel.
The story follows Gene (Miller), the only emoji in Textopolis with the capability of expressing multiple emotions. Desperate to become normal like the other emojis, he enlists the help of his best friend Hi-5 (Corden) and the Code Breaker emoji Jailbreak (Glazer).
