Watch Death Note's Ryuk Sing His Version of "Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen"

posted on by Eric Stimson

Ryuk, the macabre Shinigami (death god) from Death Note, is noted for his fondness for apples. It should be no surprise that to promote his latest movie, Death Note: Light Up the New World, he's performing his take on Daimaō Kosaka's Viral Hit "PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)."

The video, much like other "PPAP" parodies, has caught on, racking up over 9 million views at press time. It's anyone's guess whose name Ryuk is writing with his new fruity pen.

Death Note: Light Up the New World has earned 458 million yen (about $4.37 million) at the Japanese box office in its opening weekend, dethroning your name. from the top spot. As for "PPAP," it has racked up over 151 million views on YouTube (and that's only counting the most popular version; the official video linked above has over 78 million views).
