63-Year-Old Singer Sachiko Goes Goth Loli in Game Ad

63-year-old enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi appeared in gothic lolita attire for an ad promoting Gothic wa Mahō Otome (The Magical Maiden is Gothic) mobile shooting game. Kobayashi, who earned the nickname "Last Boss" for her extravagant concert costumes, admitted that this style was out her wheelhouse.
After the commercial finished shooting, Kobayashi said, "So far, none of my previous costumes ever embarrassed me, but this time I'm truly embarrassed."
In the commercial, Kobayashi first appears in her "Phoenix" costume and sings a portion of the game's image song. She then transforms into "Tsukaima Sachiko" in the Gothic Lolita attire.
When asked how she'd like to use magic, Sachiko responded "That's right. In my head I'm 15-years-old. I think that it would be nice if I could remain forever 15-year-old Sachiko Kobayashi."
The commercial will premiere on TV in Japan on March 18.
The singer performed in the multi-platform video game Phantasy Star Online 2 last year. She sang one of the original ending theme songs for Pokémon.
