posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Sailor Moon anime series is getting its first official classical concert performance in Japan this summer. The concert will be held at the Tokyo Art Theater on August 2-3 and is just the latest event to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary.

The concert will feature a diverse itinerary with songs from the anime series, films, and musicals with multiple guest artists. Sailor Moon voice actress Kotono Mitsuishi, guest conductor and frequent Sailor Moon theme song collaborator Akiko Kosaka, and singer Yoko Ishida ("Otome no Policy") are scheduled to attend Makoto Yoshida will conduct the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra for the event.

Sailor Moon Fan Club "Pretty Guardians" members will have a first run at the tickets. Tickets went on sale on Monday and applications will remain open until April 9. A second round of ticket applications will open on April 14 and run until April 23. Finally, general sales tickets will open on June 3.

Classical concert takes on popular anime series are becoming more common. The volleyball anime Haikyu!! got its classical concert interpretation in February. Tiger & Bunny, Kirby, Madoka Magica, Zelda, and Pokemon have also inspired a sort of classical music revival in recent years.
