Award-Winning Manga Artist Seika Nakayama Celebrates 40th Anniversary

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Magazine Princess Gold is celebrating award-winning shōjo manga artist Seika Nakayama's 40 year career with a bundled manga booklet. The June issue includes a 132-page bonus booklet titled "Konnichiwa! Nakayama Seika desu!!" (Hello! I'm Seika Nakayama!!) that includes retrospective works from her career.

The stories include "Hana no Miyako (Gildirekk) no Sweets na Ichinichi" (One Day of Sweets in the Flower Capital, Gildirekk) from her Hanakanmuri no Ryuu no Kuni (Country of the Dragon with the Flower Crown) series, the mythology-inspired "Eros and Psyche," her first love story "Kōsui Monogatari" (Perfume Story), her first horror story "Trnka," "Yoru no Tani no Kuro Ibara" (Blackthorn in the Evening Valley), and "Day Dream 365." The booklet features new illustrations, which Nakayama drew while reminiscing about her early works. These will include the booklet's cover image and a short work titled, "Hanakanmuri no Ryuu no Kuni encore Hana no Miyako no Fushigi na Ichinichi" (Country of the Dragon with the Flower Crown encore One Mysterious Day in the Flower Capital), which will be printed on the booklet's opening pages in color. Also included in the bundle is a Quo prepaid card with the booklet's cover illustration printed on it.

Nakayama won the Award of Excellence at the 37th Japan Cartoonist Awards for her manga Alfheim no Kishi in 2008 and was a judge for the Fifth International Manga Awards in 2012.
