On Friday, we introduced you to DLE's Henkei Shōjo project with a theme song video and anime clip. The clip introduced the project's first character Haru, a girl that can inexplicably transform into a jet plane.
The short caused a stir on Twitter and racked up more than 1.65 million views. While Haru has few lines in the short, DLE promised to reveal the voice behind its trending character. On Thursday, the company let the cat out of the bag and announced that M.A.O (Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Julietta, Digimon Adventure tri.'s Hikari) is the voice of Haru and she also performed the short's theme song.
M.A.O commented that she thought the project's approach is very innovative and that the transformation scene was quite shocking. She also said that if she could transform, she'd like it to be a submarine so she could explore underwater.
The project's concept is "What would you do if a girl nearby suddenly transformed?" The female characters undergo complete transformations, and Haru's transformation was the first that the project revealed. The project will announce Haru's voice actress on Monday. One person who correctly guesses the voice actress on Twitter will receive a poster signed by the voice actress.
The official website includes a 360° feature that lets fans view the transformed girls from any angle. In addition, the website is currently streaming "mysterious gravure cameraman Falcon Katō's" fan-service video of Haru's transformation.
The second short, titled "Rin-hen" (Rin Version), will premiere on June 9. The project will reveal the remaining three characters in June, July, and August, respectively.
