A3! Ikemen Game Gets 1st Manga Anthology, Serialization

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The "ikemen-raising" mobile game A3! has over three million downloads, top selling tie-in CDs, and a new ad campaign that played on big screens outside of some of Japan's major train stations. The game is now getting its first official manga anthology with contributors including HoneyWorks' Yamako, Zekkyō, Yukiko and many others. The game's character designer Ryō Fujihara drew the cover.

The full list of contributors includes illustrations by Shige, Jikka, Yamako, and Chikinko Yamada, and manga by Uri Amemiya, Ameno, Omu the Rice, Misato Kamada, Kan Kayashima, Tatami Kanzaki, Yū Kirai, Sagari Shirahata, Zekkyō, Chamu, Kokone Nata, Haruno Narita, Manio Hanasaki, Tamura Mutō, and Yukiko.

The game is also inspiring a serialized manga adaptation in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum in the July issue released on Saturday. Yoshimi Muneyama is drawing the adaptation.

The free-to-play game stars a stable of aspiring actors. The characters are separated into four troupes, each one referencing a particular season. The player controls the troupe's director and is responsible for "raising" each member but of course there's also plenty of romance to go along with it.
