Drive in Ultra Style in the Ultraman Toyota 86

Move over Char, one of Japan's top tokusatsu heroes is getting his own concept car. The Ultraman licensing brand "A Man of Ultra," a joint venture between Tsuburaya Productions and FIELDS Corp opened orders for the M78 × 86 concept car on Monday.

The concept car was manufactured with many of the same companies behind the Toyota 86, including San-Ei Shobō, Kotsu Time Sha, and Hattori Marking. The car's base is is a Toyota 86, a popular model of Ultraman's original audience who are now in their 40s. The car comes in two types based on the Toyota 86 GT and the Toyota 86 GT Limited and in five color combinations: crystal black silica, ice silver metallic, crystal white pearl, pure red, and dark grey metallic. It can also be purchased as either a manual or automatic.

Part kits come in two types and additional rear fender details and chrome door handle covers can be added. The cars are made to order and so far a total of 10 dealerships throughout Japan are handling distribution. The price varies depending on the car. The cheapest version is the GT 6MT base model and it runs for 3,373,800 yen (US$30,225). The most expensive is the GT Limited 6AT full kit type for 3,772,400 yen (US$33,796).

The Man of Ultra brand has previously focused on everyday items like clothing and lifestyle products.
