Digimon's 1st Official Art Book Marks Franchise's 20th Anniversary

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The Premium Bandai online shop revealed the Digimon franchise's first official illustration and design compilation book on Friday. The website began accepting pre-orders for the book, titled Digital Monster Art Book Ver.1~5&20th.

Digimon series character designer Kenji Watanabe's work, including new art, will appear in the book. The book is marking the 20th anniversary of the release of the original handheld LCD-screen Digital Monster toys that debuted in June 1997. Illustrations and characters designs for more than 150 Digimon characters will feature in the book.

In addition, the book will include sections about secrets of the original Digital Monster toys' creation, the Digital World, the Royal Knights, as well as staff interviews and other content.

The 200-page book costs 4,860 yen (about US$44). The pre-order period will close on September 19, and the book is slated to ship in December.

The franchise is also celebrating its 20th anniversary with figures and Digivice toys.
