Zettai Karen Children (Psychic Squad) manga creator Takashi Shiina posted a two-page manga on Wednesday about the Kemono Friends anime. In the manga, Shiina gives his take on the viral hit. The story begins with Kaban apparently recovering from being involved in a plane crash.

Doctor: How are you feeling?
Kaban: My headache is almost completely gone.
Doctor: That's an impressive recovery after that kind of accident.
Doctor: You were the only survivor.... It took the rescue team three days to get there.
Doctor: Do you remember anything up until you were rescued?
Kaban: No. But I feel like... I saw something like a dream.
Doctor: When you were found, apparently this wildcat was snuggled up to you. Is it... your friend?

The Kemono Friends anime originally aired from January 10 to March 28 of this year, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. A second season was confirmed in July, with a note that read, "It will take some time, so please wait!"

Shiina is also known for his original Ghost Sweeper Mikami manga, which won the Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen manga in 1993.
