Recently, car companies have gone full speed ahead to attract nerds with disposable income. The biggest example is Toyota and its campaign for the C-HR crossover SUV that included multiple ads featuring Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira manga, Tetsuo Hara's Fist of the North Star manga, CAPCOM's Street Fighter II game, and Takara Tomy's Tomica toy cars. The company has also gone on to create campaigns with Dragon Quest, Initial D, and Gundam.
Meanwhile, Ford's Overdub web ads hired the likes of Sailor Moon, the Power Rangers, Solid Snake, and the Dragon Ball Z crew to talk up its vehicles and Mario swapped out his usual go-cart for a Mercedes-Benz.
Suzuki is getting in on the trend with a new ad for its Swift Sport that premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Thursday. The production version of the Suzuki Swift Sport is on display at the event and the company is hoping to entice potential buyers by showing off its potential for a heart-pounding ride.
The animation style bares resemblance to some of Studio 4°C's previous work, but the actual source of the animation sequences aren't revealed in the ad.
