ANN Readers: Ancient Magus Bride Is Most Anticipated Fall 2017 Anime

Earlier this month, Japanese netizens voted for their most anticipated Fall 2017 anime series on the website Charapedia. Gintama's upcoming Porori Arc, notable for still being unclear as to whether its an entirely new season, a blend of new and old episodes, or shorts, took readers' top spot. Here at Anime News Network, Gintama took fourth place overall. Instead, readers are more excited for the anime adaptation of Kore Yamazaki's The Ancient Magus' Bride.
The Ancient Magus' Bride received a recently completed three-part OVA prequel and early theater screenings of its first three episodes. The story follows an unfortunate girl named Chise who is bought out of slavery by a prolific mage named Elias in order to learn magic. Chise holds within herself a powerful reserve of magical power and Elias plans to teach her how to control it and, perhaps as a secondary goal, teach her to value herself.
In second place is Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond, the sequel to the 2015 series that reimagines New York City as a hub of supernatural entities. Leonardo Watch finds himself embroiled into the workings of Libra, a secret society that works to keep the city from going belly up.
Fittingly, third place went to Food Wars! The Third Plate. Readers are ready for more culinary battles as all-star cook Sōma Yukihira prepares to take on the Council of Ten, the highest ranked student chefs at the academy.

Website users overall ranked March comes in like a lion highest, followed by Mr. Osomatsu, and Hōzuki no Reitetsu. Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond and Food Wars! The Third Plate brought up fourth and fifth place, while Gintama did not rank in the top 20.
