Fan Creates Tiny 18-Karat Gold Hatsune Miku in Video

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku has inspired countless figures in her day. However, fan and Niconico Douga user raku posted a video on Saturday of what may be the first tiny metal figurines of the popular virtual idol.

The video begins by showing the process of creating a 3D model for the figurines to use to make a prototype and mold. The process can be used to create gold, silver, and bronze Miku figurines. In particular, the video highlights an 18-karat gold version of the figurine charm.

The figurines may not be official, but Miku fans are in love with them. One net commenter said, "Amazing...." and others were impressed by the craftsmanship and curious about the cost of each piece.

Other works to inspire official and very expensive gold statues and figures include Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Saint Seiya, and Godzilla.
