Ciao Magazine's Manga Creator Kit Bundles Light Box, Pen, Templates

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The April issue of Shogakukan's Ciao magazine bundled a "manga creator set" when it shipped on Friday. The set contains everything young, aspiring creators need to draw their own manga.

The set includes a light box with pencil case, three sheets of mini genkō yōshi writing paper, 13 varieties of mini screen tones, more than one hundred varieties of manga templates, and a "professional comic pen." When closed, the case can store pencils and other small tools, and when open, it can become a stand for tracing. The set also includes reproduction illustrations from Nao Maita's Age 12 and Keiko Notoyama's Owaru Sekai de Kimi ni Koi Suru manga.

The magazine is known for bundling small yet useful items. Hiromu Shinozuka's PriPri Chi-chan!! manga inspired a combination electric fan and eraser, as well as an automatic vacuum that bundled with issues last year.

Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine shipped a "Super Strongest Manga Creator Set" with one of its issues in February 2013. Several manga creators posted about using the set or being interested in the set at the time. Nakayoshi then published another "Evolved Shape Manga Creator Ultimate Set" in August that year after the success of the first kit.
