Char's Giant Zaku Mobile Suit Model Gets Sleek Black Design

Char's iconic red Zaku mobile suit is getting a sleek, black variant. The "HY2M 1/12 MS-06S ZAKU II mastermind JAPAN Ver." measures 1.5 meters high (5 feet). Bandai released images of this new Zaku II figure on Tuesday.
The new color design is part of a larger collaboration with fashion retailer Strict-G and its "mastermind Japan" men's casual fashion brand. You can see the brand's skull and crossbones logo on the figure's chest plate and shield.
The Zaku figure will go on sale on March 24 at the Strict-G Tokyo Odaiba store for 756,000 yen (US$7,106). The same design is also available as a 1/60-scale figure (about 13in high) for 23,3760 yen (US$2,197). Alternatively, the Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex also has a 1/60-scale mastermind JAPAN version measuring 52cm (20.5in) set for release on March 30. That figure will cost 118,800 yen (US$1,116).
Char's Zaku has inspired plenty of "redesigns," from a confiscated unicycle to its own Toyota Auris.
