d Anime Store's 3rd Shirobako Anime Ad Features New Cuts

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Wireless provider Docomo's d Anime Store (Docomo Anime Store) streaming service recently began streaming the third commercial featuring the anime Shirobako on Sunday. The video features new cuts and shows Musashino Animation employees in a meeting about making a commercial for the service.

In the video, Watanabe asks Kinoshita if he has drawn the storyboards for the commercial. Kinoshita complains that it's impossible. Aoi brings up the script, and Midori describes d Anime Store to the group. Kinoshita appears to draw inspiration from the conversation, and he gets to work on the storyboards. The anime studio staffers then present their complete idea at the d Anime Store headquarters, and the company's representative enthusiastically looks forward to the finished commercial.

The promotion's second ad, which debuted in February, shows the Musashino Animation staff in a similar meeting discussing the content of the commercial and what they want to convey.

The first commercial that debuted in January focused on Aoi. The commercials include newly recorded lines by the anime's cast.

The "Musashi-Sakai x Shirobako Harumatsuri" (Musashi-Sakai x Shirobako Spring Festival) event revealed in April that the Shirobako franchise will get an anime film project. P.A. Works is starting production on the film, but the film does not have a set release date yet. The film will be an all-new work, and some of the television anime's main staff are returning.

The 24-episode anime premiered in October 2014, and Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series, and released it on home video in North America in 2016.
