Akira Creator Katsuhiro Otomo Draws Cycling Book Cover

Manga creator and anime director Katsuhiro Ōtomo (Akira, Steamboy, Memories) drew the cover for Takashi Satō's non-fiction book Escape from the 2014 Japanese National Road Race Championships. The book will be released with the new cover in Japan on July 6.
The book chronicles the The Japanese National Road Race Championships held in June 2014 in Hachimantai, Iwate prefecture. The race spanned 221.2 kilometers and lasted 5 hours and 41 minutes. The year marked the first time Junya Sano took the gold in the competition.
Otomo previously drew a special illustration for Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs film. Last year, Otomo unveiled his recreation of Pieter Bruegel the Elder's painting The (Little) Tower of Babel with a portion cut away to reveal the interior.
