Suspect Takahito Yamaguchi is thought to have spray-painted the covers with a high school student

A third suspect was arrested on suspicion of damaging the Love Live! Sunshine!! manhole covers in Numazu. The most recent arrest is related to three manhole covers that were spray-painted in June. The earlier arrests were for scratches allegedly captured on video involving three high school students. Police arrested two individuals in that incident.

The most recent suspect arrested by Numazu police on July 25 is a third-year college student named Takahito Yamaguchi from Sumiyoshi city in Saitama prefecture. Police have not clarified whether Yamaguchi admitted to the charges related to damaging the manhole covers. He's suspected of working with a male high school student he was acquainted with to spray-paint the three covers.

Police are currently investigating the motive behind Yamaguchi and his acquaintance's actions.

The official website for Numazu announced on Wednesday that officials were aware of the arrest and are still considering appropriate measures to reinstate the manhole covers throughout the city. Officials removed all nine of the covers after the last round of vandalism.
