Fate/stay night Creator Kinoko Nasu Shares Thoughts on Fate/Extra Last Encore: Illustrias Tendōsetsu Anime

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Original Fate/stay night creator Kinoko Nasu commented on Fate/Extra Last Encore: Illustrias Tendōsetsu anime special on Type-Moon's blog last week. He attended the "Fate/Grand Order Fes. 2018~3rd Anniversary~" event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on July 28 and viewed the special for the first time along with the other attendees.

In his comments, Nasu said he got goosebumps at the "really wonderful content" of the special. Fate/Extra Last Encore: Illustrias Tendōsetsu includes three episodes that conclude the Fate/Extra Last Encore anime series. Nasu said the story did a good job of tying up the series, and he thanked the staff and Shaft for their work. Nasu wrote the script for the special with Hikaru Sakurai.

Nasu also offered an apology. He said, "And sorry, everyone, for the difficult-to-understand dialogue. But I want you to try to concentrate as much as you can." Additionally, Nasu noted that he has as an interview about the Fate/Extra Last Encore project in the upcoming September issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Newtype magazine, which will ship on August 9.

Fate/Extra Last Encore: Illustrias Tendōsetsu premiered on television on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11 on July 29 at 7:00 p.m. The two-hour special then aired on MBS in two installments on July 29 and August 5 at 26:25 (effectively 2:25 a.m. on July 30 and August 6).

The main 10-episode Fate/Extra Last Encore television anime series premiered on January 27, and is exclusively streaming on Netflix in Japan. The anime's subtitle is "Oblitus Chidōsetsu" (Oblitus Heliocentrism). Netflix began streaming the anime outside of Japan on June 30.
