4-Panel Manga Creator Offers T-Shirts Perfect for Dōjin Sellers
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official Twitter account for the Itsumo no Maskneco four-panel manga revealed T-shirts for dōjinshi sellers earlier this month. The tweet says, "I made T-shirts that are absolutely necessary at dōjin events."
The shirts are available through UNIQLO's original T-shirt-making service UTme!, and the regular white versions each cost 2,290 yen (about US$20). They can prevent confusion at events by labeling the roles of everyone at a particular dōjin circle's booth. One shirt (seen above) also has the message "I slept plenty so I couldn't publish my new book."
The designs available are not limited to white T-shirts. Buyers can select from a couple colors of shirts, and the designs can also be printed on tote bags, sweatshirts, and hoodies. Maskneco is also offering a few more general shirts and a tote bag alongside the dōjin-related selections.
The dōjin designs have become popular online. The announcement post revealing the shirts has gotten more than 24,000 retweets and more than 28,000 likes. The English on the shirts originally had incorrect grammar, but it seems the popularity led to editing to correct the issues. Though the designs were probably intended to be amusing, it would be no surprise if they appear on actual dōjinshi creators at events soon.
