Square Enix's Gangan Online Manga Site Marks 10th Anniversary

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Square Enix's manga website Gangan Online launched on October 1, 2008. The site is still going strong and announced various 10th anniversary projects on Monday.

An array of creators such as Barakamon's Satsuki Yoshino, Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun's Izumi Tsubaki, and Mahōjin Guru Guru 2's Hiroyuki Etō provided celebratory messages and illustrations that are available to view now on the website. The site is also running "revival publications" of 10 popular titles, and fans can read about one compiled book volume's worth of each manga for free. Marumikan's Seitokai no Otanoshimi and HERO's Asao-san to Kurata-kun manga are the first featured series, and their special releases are available until October 7.

A Twitter campaign will award 184 volumes of manga serialized through Gangan Online to one lucky winner. Participants must follow the site's Twitter account and retweet the designated campaign tweet by October 7. A winner will be notified around mid-October. Beginning on October 8, another campaign will also offer anniversary towels to 50 winners.

The website plans to launch a new manga by The Demon Prince of Momochi House creator Aya Shouoto before the end of the year, and it also plans to debut other new series soon.
