Hypnosis Mic Rap Project Reveals Trailers for "Final Showdown" Songs, New "Speaker" Visuals

posted on by Kim Morrissy

The second rap battle project between Japanese voice actors is approaching a showdown. Last year, 12 male voice actors participated in a rap battle project titled "Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle-." The voice actors rapped in the personas of original characters designed by Idea Factory and Otomate, with a scenario written by Yūichirō Momose (My First Girlfriend is a Gal, Fate/Zero).

The Hypnosis Mic performers are sorted into the following divisions: the Ikebukuro Division Buster Bros (Subaru Kimura, Haruki Ishiya, Kōhei Amasaki), the Yokohama Division Mad Trigger Crew (Shintarō Asanuma, Shin'ichirō Kamio, Wataru Komada), the Shinjuku Division Matenrō (Shō Hayami, Ryūichi Kijima, Kent Itō), and the Shibuya Division Fling Posse (Yusuke Shirai, Sōma Saitō, Yukihiro Nozuyama).

The second "Hypnosis Microphone -Division Rap Battle" is now on its "The Final Battle" CD. The Mad Trigger Crew VS Matenrou CD will include five songs: "DEATH RESPECT" and "IKEBUKURO WEST GAME PARK (Boyz Sunshine remix)", "Yokohama Walker (Triple Trippin' remix)", "Shibuya Marble Texture -PCCS- (Candy Dazed remix)", and "Shinjuku Style ~Don't laugh~ (Nerve Rackin' remix)". Trailer have been released for "DEATH RESPECT" and "IKEBUKURO WEST GAME PARK (Boyz Sunshine remix)". Trailers for the other songs will be released at a later date.

The Hypnosis Mic project recently caused a stir on Twitter by releasing new images of speakers with the characters.

Voice actor and Hypnosis Mic participant Wataru Komada jokingly commented on Twitter that the image for his character (Jyuto Iruma) looks "less like speakers and more like weapons." Fellow voice actor Haruki Ishiya tweeted, "If Jyuto uses a monstrosity like that to project his voice, it wouldn't just cause mental interference - it would be a physical attack."
