Artists Celebrate Fire Force Manga's TV Anime Announcement

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Soul Eater creator Atsushi Ohkubo's latest manga Fire Force just got the green light for an anime adaptation earlier this month. Ohkubo's colleagues decided to celebrate with fan art for the series in this week's issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine.

Artists Kouji Seo (Suzuka, Fuuka), Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail), Makoto Morishita (Im: Great Priest Imhotep), Suzuhito Yasuda (Yozakura Quartet, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), Ken Wakui (Shinjuku Swan), and Miki Yoshikawa (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) contributed art to the magazine's special gallery.

The art will be later published in a special edition of Fire Force that Kodansha will release in April 2019.

Kodansha Comics publishes the manga in English, and it describes the story:

Terror has paralyzed the clockwork metropolis of Tokyo! Possessed by demons, people have begun to burst into flame, leading to the establishment of a special firefighting team: the Fire Force, ready to roll on a moment's notice to fight spontaneous combustion anywhere it might break out. The team is about to get a very unique addition: Shinra, a boy who possesses the unique power to run at the speed of a rocket, leaving behind the famous "devil's footprints" (and destroying his shoes in the process). Can the Fire Force discover the source of this strange phenomenon and put a stop to it? Or will the city burn to ashes first?

Ohkubo launched the series in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in September 2015. Kodansha published the manga's 15th volume on November 16. Kodansha Comics shipped the 12th volume on October 16.

david production (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Cells at Work!) will animate the anime adaptation.
