Namori's Yuruyuri Manga Gets 10th Anniversary Art Book

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Manga artist Namori celebrated 10 years of Yuruyuri with the release of a new art book Namori Art Collection 2: Namori Exhibition on January 31. The book is presented like a walk through a museum exhibit with illustrations like the ones Namori produced for Yuruyuri calendar, posters, postcards, and event tickets.

The Yuruyuri series launched a successful crowdfunding campaign to fund a new original video anime based on the series. The campaign will run until February 15 and has exceeded its base goal of 10 million yen (about US$90,000) more than five times over.

The new project is titled "Yuruyuri," — pronounced "Yuruyuri ten." The "," or "ten" is a wordplay on the English word "ten" and the Japanese term for a punctuation mark.

Namori recently worked on the Endro~! television anime as its original character designer.

Namori launched the Yuruyuri manga in 2008. JManga and ALC Publishing released part of the original manga digitally in English before JManga shut down in 2013. The manga recently entered an indefinite hiatus on July 18. Namori was also the character designer for Release the Spyce original television anime that premiered in October.
