Tokyo Ghoul, Kenshin Actress Yū Aoi Marries Comedian Ryōta Yamasato

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

After just two months of dating, actress Yū Aoi and comedian Ryōta Yamasato were married on June 4. The 33-year-old Tokyo Ghoul actress and 42-year-old Nankai Candies comedian submitted their marriage registration in Tokyo on June 3. The couple's reception date is still undecided.

The relationship was kept out of the public eye and came as surprise. Aoi has not announced that she is pregnant and is continuing to work.

Aoi and Yamasato met through their mutual friend, actress Shizuyo Yamazaki, who then went on to be the couple's "cupid." Yamazaki co-starred with Aoi in 2006 film Hula Girls and the two became close friends. Yamazaki would later bring Yamasato to a dinner party to meet with Aoi.

Aoi is currently an in-demand talent in Japan and appears regularly in 16 different programs including television and radio. She previously starred in the Tokyo Ghoul live-action film as Rize Kamishiro and the Rurouni Kenshin live-action films as Megumi Takani. Her voice work includes Tetsuko "Alice" Arisugawa in The Case of Hana & Alice and Kanako Azumi in Studio 4°C's Children of the Sea.

Ryōta Yamasato will voice Donald Moderate in this year's One Piece Stampede film. He's a regular commentator on the reality romance television series Terrace House and played a villain in the Shuriken Sentai Ninninger vs. ToQger the Movie: Ninja in Wonderland tokusatsu film.
