Fate Franchise's Gilgamesh VA Recites The Epic of Gilgamesh for Audiobook

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The servants in the ever-expanding Fate universe are based on heroes both famous and infamous, real and mythological. One of the more popular characters is Gilgamesh, the haughty blonde king of ancient Mesopotania. The character is voiced by Tomokazu Seki and is central to the upcoming Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia television anime.

The story of Gilgamesh is recounted in the Epic of Gilgamesh, a poem written in approximately 2100 BC. Several millennia later and mankind is still reading the story of Gilgamesh. Tokyo's Ancient Orient Museum is releasing a new version as an audio CD and app narrated by by the king himself, Tomokazu Seki. Recitation of The Epic of Gilgamesh: The Man that Peered into the Abyss will be released in July.

Seki also recorded the audio guide for the museum's permanent Gilgamesh exhibit. The voice actor commented that while he had played Gilgamesh in games and anime, he wasn't familiar with the character's origin story, so reading it aloud killed two birds with one stone.
