Meiji Yasuda Life Ad Shows Glimpse of Summer Wars 10 Years Later

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company teamed up with Mamoru Hosoda's Summer Wars film to release an ad commemorating the film's 10th anniversary. The ad shows an office lady who was inspired by Summer Wars reflecting on her memories of the matriarch Sakae and aspiring to be a better person. Meiji Yasuda Life posted the video on June 24.

I'm kind of tempted to imagine the office lady as Natsuki 10 years in the future. Unlike the Natsuki in the film, who is bratty and uncertain about herself, the office lady has got a smart and professional look about her. Studio Chizu produced an illustration for her, which is adorable.

The original film opened in Japan in July 2009. The "action entertainment" story revolves around a modern-day family that embarks on a midsummer adventure together at the behest of a 90-year-old woman.
