'80s Shonen Jump Bar Will Open in Kabukicho District

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Jump heroes aren't just for boys. A newly opened bar in Shinjuku's Kabukicho district is bringing back the 1980s to entice patrons over the age of 20 to drink with their favorite manga heroes. The "Adult Jump Bar" will open on July 11 on the fifth floor of the WaMall building.

The bar will feature a mural of the protagonists from the manga magazine's 1980s-era hits. Giant figures will be on display among original materials from manga creators and classic magazines. A themed menu is also in the works.

The 1980s introduced readers to Dragon Ball, City Hunter, Kinnikuman, Saint Seiya, Fist of the North Star, and more. The magazine revisited its heyday in a series of 50th anniversary exhibitions and events.
