What's better than a cruise to Mexico? How about a cruise to Mexico filled with anime-inspired activities?
The Power Level agency told ANN on Tuesday that it is producing a four-day Oceanime cruise that will depart from Long Beach, California on April 23, 2020. The chartered Carnival cruise ship will visit the port of Ensenada, Mexico on April 25, before returning to Long Beach on April 26.
The cruise "is designed to inspire fun, friendships, and a sense of community for anime fans." The aim of the cruise is to "facilitate interaction between fans, J-culture, anime brands, and the venue." The trip will feature "intimate experiences" with "Eastern cuisine, art, music, and film." Events will include cosplay, karaoke, game shows, and exclusive events not typically available at anime conventions.
The cruise will be limited to people age 21 and older, and up to 2,000 people will be able to attend. The cruise will also include food, live entertainment, and themed parties onboard the ship. Attendees will be able to purchase additional experiences such as shore excursions, specialty dining, and spa services.
Tickets went on sale on October 23, and the first wave of sales will run until November 24. Ticket prices start at US$299 per person per night for an interior room and US$449 per person per night for an ocean-view room. Interested fans may want to buy their tickets soon because prices will increase with each wave of sales.
