Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Gets 1st 'Next-Generation VR Attraction' at Universal Studios Japan

posted on by Alex Mateo
New attractions based on Detective Conan, Attack on Titan, Lupin III also debut in January

Universal Studios Japan released details on its Japanese website about its "Cool Japan" attractions for 2020. The park is planning rides and themed restaurants dedicated to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Detective Conan, Lupin the 3rd, and Attack on Titan. The annual event will run from January 21 to June 28.

According to the theme park's website, the new attraction based on CAPCOM's Monster Hunter Word: Iceborne expansion game will be the series' first "next-generation virtual-reality attraction." The collaboration will offer realistic hunting through VR technology, and it is slated to open in the park in spring 2020.

"Detective Conan World," based on Gōshō Aoyama's long-running Detective Conan series, will feature a record four attractions: the new story roller-coaster experience "Detective Conan x Hollywood Dream the Ride," the escape room game "Detective Conan The Escape" featuring "that person," the park-wide mystery "Detective Conan Mystery Challenge," and the murder mystery dining experience "Detective Conan Mystery Restaurant."

The "Attack on Titan XR Ride" combines a physical ride on tracks and a virtual reality headset to give riders a unique experience in the despair-filled world of the series. This attraction will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hajime Isayama's manga, and it will also be the series' first XR ride.

The "Lupin the 3rd the Live" experience will be a live street entertainment show.

The theme park will reveal more details at a later date. These attractions are all part of Universal Studios Japan's "Universal Cool Japan" initiative, which will celebrate its sixth anniversary in 2020. For anyone who wants to experience the park's new offerings, the Cool Japan Express Pass will go on sale starting on December 6.

This year's "Universal Cool Japan" attractions featured collaborations with Sailor Moon, Lupin the 3rd, Detective Conan, Godzilla, Attack on Titan, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
