Evangelion Returns to Shinkalion in December

Last year, the popular kids' anime mecha anime Shinkalion dedicated an episode to a giant Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover. The episode included appearances by voice actresses Megumi Hayashibara, Yūko Miyamura, Megumi Ogata, and Junko Iwao as Rei, Asuka, Shinji, and Hikari.
Unit-01 was also in the episode, reimagined as a transforming mecha based on the retired 500 TYPE EVA train and battled "King Shitoel," a reference to Neon Genesis Evangelion's "yurushito" (lit. weak angel) mascot character, Sachiel.
The two mecha series have another collaboration on the horizon, this time with upcoming theatrical release of Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: Mirai Kara Shinsoku no ALFA-X and Evangelion: 3.0+1.0. A collaboration video, using footage from the previous crossover episode with new voice over, began streaming on November 21. Kotono Mitsuishi (Eva's Misato) returns to narrate with Hikaru Midorikawa (Shinkalion's SHINPEI Izumi).
More information about the collaboration will be announced in the future. Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: Mirai Kara Shinsoku no ALFA-X will open in theaters in Japan on December 27 and Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 will open (fingers crossed) in June 2020.
Besides Eva, Shinkalion has also collaborated with Galaxy Express 999 and Japan Railway's beloved Suica penguin mascot.
