Doraemon Gets Its Own Film Festival in February

posted on by Kim Morrissy
All 39 Doraemon films, plus 14 accompanying short films/specials will be screened at Jimbocho Theater

The popular children's anime Doraemon will get a film festival all to itself in February next year. From February 1 to March 5, Shogakukan's Jimbocho Theater will screen all 39 Doraemon films, plus 14 short films/specials that were initially screened alongside the feature films. All films that were released before 2010 will be screened with 35 mm film.

More details will be released on Jimbocho Theater's website at a later date.

Fujiko F. Fujio's original manga has inspired numerous television anime, films, and specials. The first film, called Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Dinosaur, debuted in 1980. The 2020 Doraemon film, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Kyōryū (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur), will open on March 6, 2020. The film's story begins with Nobita meeting two twin dinosaurs named Kyu and myu. Despite the film's similarity in title to Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Dinosaur, the story is completely different.
